If you are an international student currently living in the Ann Arbor area, and would like to take part in this program, please click this questionnaire to fill in your information and submit. You will be contacted to attend a meeting where you will have a chance to meet your mentor. Please fill out the questionnaire to the best of your ability because the selection process is based on these profiles.

Note: Average amount of time commitment to the program: 2 to 4 hours/month

Goals of the program:
• To encourage human interactions and friendships
• To deepen understanding of culture in the United States
• To increase knowledge of diverse cultures
• To offer practical, individual counseling
• To provide a forum for self expression
 
Mentors and students participated in a brainstorming session March 28th, 2003 at the International Center at the University of Michigan. The group produced the following list of desired outcomes for the project:
• Friendship
• Good Conversation
• A better understanding of the views of older Americans
• Learning about preparing traditional American food
• Grocery shopping
• The opportunity to cook and eat together
• Taking walks
• Concerts, movies, picnic
• Field trips - Detroit, Greenfield Village
• Shopping
• The invitation for mentors to learn more about or even visit their countries
