Both part-time and contingent positions available. The Daily Living Coach assists program residents in their homes with daily chores, tasks, etc. to help them develop independent living skills. Requirements include a degree in special education or a combination of relevant education and experience working with individuals with special needs. Qualified candidates must be comfortable working with special needs populations and possess excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Contingent staff will fill in for absent staff, hours will vary and may range from 6-18 per week. TEAM LEADER – HOUSING SUPPORT SERVICES
Full-time position available for dynamic and experienced individual. The Housing Support Services Team Leader supports Avalon Housing, Inc. tenants in the successful achievement of housing permanency and satisfaction in their personal lives through the use of timely, ongoing, and proactive professional and peer support. In addition to maintaining a moderate caseload of clients, the HSS Team Leader guides the day-to-day operations of the program and the activities of Housing Support Services team members. The HSS Team Leader is responsible for training and oversight of site and/or shift-based work teams to ensure proper operations, attention to tenant needs and plans, and adherence to program/agency policies and procedures. This position has on-call duties and the 24/7 nature of the department requires that all staff occasionally work evenings, nights, weekends. Reliable transportation and the ability to get into work in an hour or less (when on-call) is required.
Master's degree in human service field and four years progressively responsible case management experience required; LMSW or MSW nearing completion of licensing highly preferred. Must have excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, and solid experience providing supportive services to homeless/low-income families and individuals, individuals with disabilities, special needs, PTSD, mental illness, and/or addictions.

HOUSING SUPPORT AND RESOURCE COORDINATOR - AMERICORPS MEMBER
Catholic Social Services of Washtenaw County (CSSW) operates several programs dedicated to providing outreach and case management services to a wide range of consumers who are currently homeless or at-risk for homelessness. We are currently recruiting an Amercorps member to join our Housing Support Services (HSS) team for the 2010 and 2011 service year. This position will be working to support both the Avalon Housing HSS program and the Huron Valley Ambulance Patient Advocacy and Case Management programs. This is a one year Americorps assignment organized through the Michigan Campaign to End Homelessness. The start date for the position will be October 18th, 2010.
CSSW’s Housing Support Services Program works to support tenants of Avalon Housing, Inc. in the successful achievement of housing permanency and satisfaction in their personal lives through the use of timely, ongoing and proactive professional and peer support. The vast majority of Avalon tenants have experienced homelessness or housing instability in the recent past. In addition to homelessness, residents often face a multitude of complex challenges – very low income coupled with serious and persistent issues that may include a mental illness, physical disability, substance addictions, HIV/AIDS, and/or other chronic medical conditions.
CSSW also works under contract with Huron Valley Ambulance to operate the HVA Patient Advocacy and Case Management program, which assists high-utilizers of ambulance services connect with appropriate community supports and services that are beyond the scope of EMS resources
Essential Functions and Core Responsibilities
· Assisting individuals in securing emergency rental, security deposit and/or utility assistance from community agencies and/or the Department of Human Services
· Working with case managers in developing, completing and submitting applications for housing assistance and/or vouchers
· Assistance arranging appointments with housing providers and escorting and preparing clients for housing interviews
· Providing follow-up services and conducting home-visits with recipients of Homeless Assistance Recovery Program (HARP) vouchers and HPRP assistance.
· Assisting tenants with Section 8 paperwork and preparing for housing inspections
· Accompanying and assisting case managers with outreach efforts to homeless individuals referred to our HVA program
· Assisting individuals with accessing and maintaining mainstream public benefits (SSI/SSDI, State Disability Assistance, Medicaid/Medicare, VA, TANF, WIC, SNAP, etc.) for homeless or at-risk individuals
· Develop and maintain a comprehensive resource manual on various housing resources and options (low-income housing, supportive housing, transitional housing, emergency housing, residential substance abuse programs, etc.) that will be used across all programs.
· Helping tenants with computer skills, online job searches, school enrollment and application for educational loans and other resources
· Recruiting, training and organizing volunteers in the community to assist with Community Center events and activities
Member Service Requirements:
In order to become an Americorps member , an individual must fulfill the following requirements:
- Be at least 17 years of age
- Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national or a lawful permanent resident of the U.S.
- Pass a background check before the start date
- Member must serve at least 1700 hours during their term of service
Americorps Member Benefits:
· Full-time AmeriCorps members receive an $11,800 living stipend from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) for their service activities. The stipend is paid by MCAH every two weeks
· Full-time AmeriCorps members are eligible for health care (paid for by the program) and
· May be eligible for childcare payment assistance
· Upon successfully completing a term of service, full-time members receive a $5,350 education award. The education award may be used for higher education or to pay off student loan payments
· Full-time AmeriCorps members may also qualify for student loan forbearance during their service term and may be eligible to have accrued student loan interest paid off after service.

· Two years of college or comparable work experience are required for this position.
· Ability to effectively work with diverse populations in a non-judgmental way.
· Crisis intervention skills and ability to maintain staff and tenant safety when responding to crisis situations.
· Strong verbal and written skills and ability to complete accurate, professional documentation of client contacts using a computer.
· Interpersonal flexibility and solid teamwork skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision
· Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and maintain flexibility and professionalism in the midst of rapidly evolving circumstances
· Proven flexibility, creativity, motivation and problem solving skills in serving the client population; must possess a highly positive and enthusiastic attitude and strong commitment toward helping those in need

YOUTH SERVICE WORKER
Multiple openings for residential services to pregnant and parenting teens. Days, evenings, and overnight shifts available, including some weekend hours. PROGRAM MONITOR
The Supervised Parenting/Exchange Program of Catholic Social Services of Washtenaw County is currently seeking a Monitor to supervise parenting visitation sessions and/or exchanges. Monitors are scheduled for shifts on an as-needed basis. Each parenting session is approximately 1 hour long but may vary depending upon the needs of the clients. Monitors will observe and monitor supervised parenting sessions and supervised exchanges to facilitate positive interactions between parents and their children in a safe, supervised setting that respects the rights and responsibilities of all parties. Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work or other human services related field. Punctuality, assertiveness, and sound judgment in stressful situations is critical.
